We are Anthony and Cindy, owners of Secure Home Solutions Pet Care.
We are a happily married couple who love animals. We live in the Westshore area of South Tampa, and are parisoners at a Tampa Catholic Church. We love to cook, have friends over for dinner, and enjoy making music (playing and singing jazz, blues, and classic rock). We are also both avid snorkelers, and keep our DVR busy recording all the good cop, detective and "burned spy" shows on TV. But we also love "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Glee"!
Cindy is an R.N., a Certified Veterinary Technician and a Certified Veterinary
Surgical Technician as well as a Certified Pet First Aid/CPR Instructor. I completed dual Masters degrees in Non-Profit Management and Community Development and spent many years working with nonprofit groups. I am very proud of the successful grant proposals I wrote procuring needed support funding for animal rescues and shelters, as well as for the arts, education and social justice organizations. Alongside running Secure Home Solutions Pet Care, I also teach Pet Care, Wellness, and Pet First Aid/CPR classes.
Anthony is a retired deputy sheriff investigator from upstate New York. He moved to Florida in 2001 and worked as a Private Investigator for several years. His favorite part of that line of work was Counter Surveillance and finding Missing Persons. Anthony and holds degrees in both Criminal Justice and Music
.
Anthony is also is an accomplished guitarist, playing lead or rhythm guitar, and some of the best Fender Bass you've ever heard! He took guitar and bass lessons from some of the best instructors in New York and played in several successful bands.
Although he considers himself a Bluesman first and foremost, he also plays wonderful Jazz and of course, Classic Rock.
We love to sing and make music together and with our friends.
We and our house are ruled by our four pets, Jack, Lola, Amelia and Freddie.
"Black Jack the Buccaneer Pirate", is a 4 year old Shepherd/Lab mix who is loyal, loving, grateful, and playful. His self-appointed job is to guard our home and he takes it very seriously! He is the first to bark and alert us if anyone comes to visit. He loves to play with toys and is a great jumper! He can jump very high to catch a thrown toy. He loves to go to the dog park and play with other dogs. Although he looks ferocious because of his underbite, he is a gentle and loving friend.
"Lola Casserolla Rock and Rolla", is a one-year old American Pitt Bull Terrier / Sharpei mix. She is blonde, loving, stubborn, and completely entitled. Her job is to keep Jack from being too serious, play, try to take over our bed, and to continually remind us of how wonderful life is. Her exhuberance and happiness is amazing, and a blessing to us every day. She is full of energy and loves to run and go to the dog park.
Jack and Lola were both abandoned by their first owners when they were approximately 3-4 months old. Jack was tossed out of a car on a rainy Friday night on north Bruce B. Downs. Lola was left behind in a large apartment complex. We adopted them shortly after they were rescued. We cannot imagine why their first owners choose to leave them, because they are wonderful dogs, smart, sweet, and fun! We don't know what we would do without them. Well, maybe we would be able to sleep past 6 am, but who wants to do that when you can be awakened at the crack of dawn by two dogs trampling all over you saying "Wake UP! Wake UP! It's a new day and the birds are awake and the squirrels are out and WE want to be out, too!!!" They are both respectful of Amelia and Freddie and sit or lie down if the birds come near them.
Amelia is a young adult female Cockatiel whom we rescued, and Freddie is a young adult male Cockatiel we purchased from a reputable breeder to companion Amelia.
Amelia Air-Heart is a strikingly lovely yellow and dove grey pied female Cockatiel with a sweet and soft personality. As with most female Tiels, she has her own little quiet song and only calls or whistles when she finds herself alone and wants company or to find the rest of us. Because she was not well socialized from the beginning, she is still a little shy. Her confidence and trust has grown by leaps and bounds, but she would rather sit beside us and not on our shoulders, but from time to time she will surprise us and climb up for a kiss and a snuggle. She loves rye crackers, the darker herb lettuce blends, scrambled eggs and carrots.
Freddie Spaghetti is a handsome steel grey and yellow pied male Cockatiel. He was hand-fed and well socialized from birth, and his motto is - It's MINE! He already has about 30 words, phrases, and songs and believes that he should be with us and in the middle of whatever we are doing. He loves butter lettuce, spaghetti (hence his name), sesame crackers and whatever anyone else is eating You will hear Freddie chattering, calling and whistling many times when you call the office line, as he thinks that all attention should be centered on him. But he is very loving and sweet, playful and interactive with both us and the dogs.
We
have so much love in our home, and we are very grateful to also have the love of so many "nieces and nephews" who live in our client's homes. We get to share in the lives and care of these precious pets, and it just fills our lives with kisses, barks of joy, wagging tails, headbutts, purrs, and lots of laughter.
Can you dig that? We sure do!
